Catholic board set to celebrate ‘hope’

Press Release

The Northwest Catholic District School Board is proud to celebrate this year’s theme for Catholic education in Ontario, “Rejoicing In Hope.”
As our board motto is “Schools of Hope,” it is a perfect Gospel message choice for ensuring our students and community are filled with the joy of a faith-based approach to curriculum in Catholic schools,” noted board chair Anne-Marie Fitzgerald.
The theme celebrates that we may rejoice in hope: in our hearts, in our homes, in our schools, in our communities, in our world.
Catholic school boards always have had character education in their schools because of the Catholic values and traditions that are taught on a daily basis throughout the curriculum.
In addition, Catholic values are taught each month with a theme of prayers, readings, classroom activities, and acts of goodwill to maintain a profile of character development in our schools that reflects our faith tradition, but also is in line with the character education movement promoted by the Ministry of Education.
The local board has produced a Catholic Values Celebration Calendar that was given to every family in the system on the first day of school yesterday.
