Before hitting the wear and tear of the regular season on the Emo oval, Borderland Racing Association drivers will put their vehicles on display.
During its annual spring meeting Sunday, association members decided to kick of the season with a display of this year’s competitors May 12 at the old Causeway Pontiac-Buick-GMC parking lot on King’s Highway in the west end of town.
“This is where your best appearing car will now be picked,” noted association president Dave Allen.
The car show will be held from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., with barbecued hotdogs and hamburgers on hand.
The regular racing season will begin the following Saturday at Emo–a season that will feature some new vehicles and drivers.
“Oh yeah, we’ve got a couple new modified drives and three or four good street stocks,” said Allen.
The track will open at 6:30 p.m. every Saturday during the season, with races starting at 7 p.m.
Admission will be $8 for adults, $6 for students and seniors, $2 for children aged six to 13, and free for those under six.
For racers, the fee for using the pits will remain at $15 per vehicle.
