The body of Darrell Cellers, 65, of Duluth, Mn. was recovered from the waters of McAree Lake in Quetico Provincial Park on Saturday around 11:30 a.m.
Rainy River District OPP members, along with the OPP’s Underwater Search and Recovery Unit, had been searching the area since Thursday afternoon when it was reported that a male had fallen out of a canoe.
Investigation revealed Cellers had been travelling through the park when his canoe overturned during windy conditions.
A post-mortem examination was conducted in Thunder Bay yesterday.
The cause of death is consistent with drowning and not suspicious in nature.
