The Canadian Forces Liaison Council has honoured Northern Career Development Services here with an award for its support of the Canadian Forces Reserves and the military in general.
Master Bombardier Nathan Cousineau, of the 116th Independent Field Battery (Kenora), presented NCDS executive director Jennifer Greenhalgh and her staff with a certificate in recognition of the agency’s support last Wednesday afternoon at its Scott Street office.
“This particular recognition is from the Canadian Forces Liaison Council [CFLC],” noted Cousineau, who had nominated NCDS for the award.
“Their mandate is to essentially be the part of the military that can meet with civilian organizations, and they’re recognizing NCDS for numerous things, particularly their employment practices, fair employment, and supporting the military,” he explained.
“There’s total force recruiting stuff here all over the place, there has been for years.”
Cousineau, who previously worked at the former NCDS Transition Centre, noted NCDS also regularly decorates for Remembrance Day.
“They’ve really been supportive of the Canadian Forces,” summarized Cousineau, who hails from Fort Frances.
Greenhalgh said “it’s very much an honour” to receive the award.
“We have, over the years, always supported the military,” she remarked.
“If they were coming to offer workshops or they wanted us to supply space for recruiting, we’ve always endeavoured to make it available to our clients,” she noted.
“On the other side, when Nathan was working for us at the Transition Centre, we also allowed him time to go attend to his military duties because it really is supportive of Canadian Forces,” Greenhalgh added.
“We need to recognize the tremendous effort, and sacrifice in some cases, the Canadian military people provide to Canadians,” she stressed.
