With indications the government may be reconsidering its decision to close all three Ontario Travel Information Centres in Northwestern Ontario, local MPP Sarah Campbell will host a rally in support of tourism here tomorrow (May 19).
Scheduled for 1 p.m. at the former tourist information centre, Campbell is asking residents to gather to show their support for the industry and help force the government’s hand on the issue.
“I’ve had some very productive discussions of late and it is clear that the pressure we are putting on the government is working,” said Campbell.
“That is why I am asking as many people as possible to show up and tell this government that the decision to close travel information centres is unacceptable and must be reversed,” she added.
Residents are encouraged to show up and let the government know that travel information centres are not for sale.
