Kenora-Rainy River MPP Sarah Campbell will host a series of town hall-style meetings on health care across the riding this Friday (Sept. 28) with NDP health critic France Gelinas.
Members of the public are encouraged to join Campbell and Gelinas for an open discussion about the health-care system and its current ability to meet the needs of Northwestern Ontario residents.
“We want to hear what is being done correctly and areas where service delivery can be improved,” said Campbell, referring to the goals of the discussion.
“Our goal is to use this feedback to bring positive ideas to the table to ensure that the system in our region is sustainable and meets the needs of patients,” she added.
Gelinas, the MPP for Nickel Belt, is a trained and licensed physiotherapist and the former executive director of the Community Health Centre in Sudbury.
Under her leadership, the health centre expanded to many small and rural communities in the northeast.
Since being elected in 2007, Gelinas has been the NDP’s health critic and a passionate spokesperson for improved access to care in the north.
Members of the public are encouraged to share their views by attending the meetings this Friday in Fort Frances, Rainy River, Kenora, and Dryden.
The one in Fort Frances is slated from 8-9 a.m. at the Volunteer Bureau (old CN station) while the one in Rainy River will run from 11 a.m.-noon at the Legion there.
The meeting in Kenora is slated for 3:30-4:30 p.m. at the Travelodge on Highway 17 East, with the Dryden meeting set for 7-8 p.m. at the Holiday Inn Express on Government Street.
