Buyers to get first look inside condo project

Buyers in the River Walk condominium project will have their first look at their new homes Saturday at a private viewing of the construction site.
“There will be a viewing of the project this Saturday by invitation only,” Fort Frances CAO Bill Naturkach said Monday morning.
Buyers of the pre-sold units, members of the Fort Frances Non-Profit Housing Committee, town council, real estate brokers, and the media have been invited to the showing this weekend.
“It is not an open house because the units aren’t quite ready for the presentation we’d like to give,” he noted. “The buyers have an interest in the project and some have had arrangements to view their suites already.
“This is for those who haven’t.”
Currently, 12 of the 32 units in the complex have not been pre-sold.
Naturkach previously had thought a display unit would be ready for showing by the beginning of this month.
“Our intent was to have a suite made available and complete so we could say here’s how it is going to look. It is not quite ready,” he said, adding they hoped it would be completed by December.
Meanwhile, the committee met last Wednesday to discuss construction progress.
“The only issue we have is the completion date,” Naturkach said. “It is still Dec. 1 so far, but there has been a proposed extension by Penn-Co. of Dec. 15 on the table from before and there is a problem with that date.”
The committee will be meeting Friday with Penn-Co reps to discuss the completion date.
“It is an important date. People’s homes and lives are geared around those dates,” Naturkach said. “There are rental agreements and sale contracts and moving dates.
“We have a couple moving from Windsor to relocate here. The completion date is essential to everyone,” he stressed.
To expedite moving day, contractors are focusing on completing suites that have been pre-sold first, with those that are unoccupied to be completed afterwards.
