The Legion Ladies Auxiliary Br. #29 have had a busy fall, having just wrapped up another successful Remembrance Day tea and bake sale.
A big thank you to all who helped and all who attended.
The auxiliary also is very proud that two of our long-time and hard-working members, Jane McLeod and Florence Hill, recently were named “Citizens of the Year” for Fort Frances.
On Nov. 13, our general elections were held, with a few changes in positions being filled.
Silvia Gunderson has stepped down after 10 very hard-working years as president and Alfreda Easton has filled that position.
Josie Miller now will be first vice-president and Sandy Pruys second vice-president.
Also on the executive are Christine McDougall (Entertainment) and Clara Stainke (Ways and Means).
On Dec. 11, we will be holding our annual membership Christmas dinner at 6 p.m., followed by a meeting.
Please bring along a non-perishable food item for the food banks and a $10 gift exchange.
This year, we are offering a pick-up service for anyone who needs a ride to this event (call Giselle Calder at 274-9346 to make arrangements).
In other news, next Friday (Nov. 29) is our monthly supper of turkey and all the trimmings.
Due to the success of these monthly suppers, meals will be served by table numbers; not first-come, first served.
Doors open at 4:30 p.m., with supper served at 5:30.
Admission is $14 each and everyone is welcome.
The meeting wrapped up with Yvonne Chambers winning the attendance draw and Bea Galbraith the birthday draw.
