In last week’s edition of the Times, a story concerning proposed changes to the Rainy River District School Board’s transportation policy included comments from a parent whose children actually attend school in the local Catholic system.
The RRDSB wishes to clarify that any changes to its transportation policies only will affect those who are a part of the public board’s system.
While students from both the RRDSB and Northwest Catholic District School Board are bused together, and run through the same transportation department located at the RRDSB offices, each board has a separate policy when it comes to transportation.
Mary-Catherine Kelly, director of education for the NCDSB, confirmed via e-mail that the Catholic board will be looking into updating its transportation policies and procedures.
“Yes, we have to bring our policies as close together as possible,” she remarked.
