Business skills competition planned

“Real life simulations like internships, practice interviews, and skills competition are great ways to prepare our business students for employment,” said Shirley Schmidt, business instructor at Rainy River Community College in International Falls.
With this goal in mind, Schmidt has organized the annual competitive events at RRCC, which measures speed and accuracy in three skill areas: typing, proofreading, and word processing.
The competition, slated tomorrow (April 10), will get underway at 9 a.m. with proofreading, followed by word processing at noon and typing skills at 1 p.m.
The events are being held in the college computer labs (Rooms SS-134 and 135).
In order to make the competition more challenging, Schmidt invites former students, individuals who use these skills in their employment, and college employees to compete in as many events as they choose.
No registration is required and prizes will be awarded in the events.
