The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s annual Community and Business Expo is quickly approaching.

Chamber executive director Heather Johnson says she thinks everyone is happy to have it back — the event hasn’t been held since 2019.

She says while the Chamber hasn’t hosted a spring expo for two years, they did still have one this past fall when they partnered with Science North. Johnson estimates 600 people attended that event. She says she hopes to double that number for the Business Expo in May.

“We would love to have a really great weekend reconnecting with everybody,” says Johnson, who is looking forward to getting back into the routine.

“It’s about that feeling of being back together,” says Johnson. “To see what’s all in the community since we had our last one.”

The Expo is welcoming back regular exhibits including Contact North, SGEI, NCDS, Confederation College, and Green’s. Johnson says the Fort Frances Lakers will also be there with a four-wheeler draw.

Children are welcome to attend — Johnson says the EarlyON Centre will provide games to keep kids entertained and that Fun-Tastic Castles will have bouncy castles across from the venue.

The Expo is set to take place at the Fort Frances Curling Club on Friday, May 13, from 4 to 8 p.m. and Saturday, May 14, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The event is free to attend. The Chamber welcomes non-perishable donations which will go to the UNFC, Emo, and Salvation Army food banks. Johnson says if anyone wants to make a cash donation, that the money will be split three ways between the charities.

If any businesses still wish to book exhibition space, Johnson says to contact her at (807) 274-5773, or to find registration info on the Chamber’s website.
