Business expo filling up quickly

Plans are underway for the Business & Community Expo 2018 set for April 27-28 at the Fort Frances Curling Club.
The event, sponsored by Tbaytel, will be held at the Fort Frances Curling Club for a third year and vendors already are singing up to participate.
“We still have some booths available. We are over halfway full now,” said Jennifer Soderholm, executive director of the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce.
“I’ve also got a number of exhibitor packages out and I am waiting for them to come back in.
“We’ve got new pricing this year. We’ve actually gone down in booth prices, which is always a good thing,” she added.
“So we want to pass the savings on to those who want to participate.
“So there are booths available but with the new pricing and everything, they are going faster this year,” Soderholm noted.
The booth spaces also have changed in size from 10’x 10′ to 12’x 8′–meaning there will be slightly fewer booths than last year (60 compared to 66) but exhibitors will have wider ones.
In addition to some favourites, such as the Voyageur Lions Club with its “Jail or Bail,” Soderholm said there’s a fair number of new exhibitors–and those who might not have been here for several years–coming from Kenora, Thunder Bay, and Winnipeg, as well as across Rainy River District.
“Once again, we are trying to make it an event with something for everyone,” said Soderholm, noting the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre, for example, will be there to showcase its programming for all age groups.
There will be the “Plinko” game, a children’s activity corner, and food and beverages served upstairs at the curling club cantina.
Exhibitors and food vendors also can book space outside the curling club at a special rate, said Soderholm, noting one vendor already is signed with an outdoor trailer for the public to view.
There’s also a special rate for not-for-profit groups, she added.
Vendor packages and a floor plan of the expo site are available on the Chamber website at
The floor plan is updated regularly so as the booths fill up, prospective vendors can see what’s still available and choose from those.
The expo will run from 4 p.m.-9 p.m. on the Friday and again from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. on the Saturday.
The expo has been scheduled to happen the weekend after Spring Fever Days in Emo.
