Budget input slated

Staff

Town council is expecting to get at least some input on its 2017 budget this evening.
Budget presentations will be made the Greg Thorstad, president of the Boundary Waters Dragon Boat Club, as well as Fort Frances Lakers’ president Milt Strachan.
Meanwhile, a written submission has been made by the Fun in the Sun committee.
While the town prefers residents let them know they are coming so they can be included on the agenda, council previously has permitted people not on the agenda to speak at the budget meeting.
Time limits will be imposed and there will be no debate on any one item.
Budget presenters have been asked to be in attendance by 7 p.m.
The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30 p.m., but will go in-camera for an indefinite length of time to
discuss five items, including labour negotiations and the hiring of a new fire chief.
Other business on tonight’s agenda includes:

•a report re: surplus equipment at the wastewater treatment plant and Public Works shop;
•the awarding of Tender 16-CS-13 (Fort Frances Children’s Complex vehicle);
•a travel and per diem claim for Coun. June Caul;
•a verbal update on capital projects;
•a recommendation re: the use and care of pedestrians and bicyclists;
•a report re: funding agreement for a one-year museum intern; and
•a financial request from Sandra Allan, founder and co-ordinator of the “When Eagles Fly” program.
