Brunetta files to run for council

Coun. Wendy Brunetta is the first person to file their nomination papers to run in the Oct. 22 municipal election in Fort Frances.
Coun. Brunetta, who is wrapping up her first term as councillor, filed her nomination just before noon yesterday.
Nominations close at 2 p.m. on July 27.

In related news, prospective candidates for the fall municipal and school board elections, as well as those who plan to be a third-party advertiser in the elections, will be able to attend an information session slated for this Wednesday (June 27).
Town clerk Lisa Slomke told the Times she needed to have at least 10 people sign up for the info session in order for the Ministry of Municipal Affairs to conduct the session.
In the end, 11 people had signed up as of the deadline yesterday.
The session will take place on Wednesday at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre.
It will provide attendees with information on topics such as the role of council and staff, the nomination process, financial filing, the campaign period, candidate duties and responsibilities, and rules regarding third-party advertisers.
