Bridal show attracts nearly 100

A warm spring evening, combined with an enthusiastic community response, made the 2005 Bridal Open House at Northwoods Gallery and Gifts a hit.
Northwoods owner Connie Cuthbertson said 95 people attended last night’s open house to sample some of the latest bridal fashions and, in some cases, to register for their own weddings.
“We had 29 brides signed up and they all turned out,” Cuthbertson noted this morning. “Everything lined up just right.”
That included the weather, which Cuthbertson described as “perfect” and undoubtedly contributed to the high turnout.
As well, 11 other local businesses were invited to participate in the open house, which was a new aspect of the annual showcase.
Last year, for instance, just one local business was invited to participate while Northwoods went it alone the two previous years.
But Cuthbertson said community participation likely will become a permanent part of the event from now on.
“The great thing is, it gets the whole area together,” she noted. “I like the intimate, user-friendly aspect.”
