Branches to be chipped

If you put out branches for last week’s “Fight the Blight” pickup, and they haven’t been chipped up and taken away yet, don’t worry—the Fort Frances Power Corp. will get to them this week.
The FFPC experienced a breakdown with its wood chipper last week, putting them a few days behind on branch disposal.
The chipper has been repaired, however, and the FFPC now is back to gathering and chipping branches this week, town bylaw officer Patrick Briere told the Times this morning.
He added residents can help out the FFPC by removing any stump pieces or larger logs out of their brush piles, leaving branches which easily can be fed into the chipper.
“That’ll save them a lot of time,” Briere said.
“I know there’s a couple areas where the pieces were too large . . . to remove.”
Briere stressed the FFPC won’t chip the larger pieces, and suggested the residents use them for firewood or given them away to someone to use.
