Bragg wins Riverside draw

Just before the fireworks lit up the sky here Saturday night, the Riverside Foundation for Health Care drew the grand prize winner of its “Canada Day Cash Lottery” on the patio at the Harbourage Restaurant.
Jean Bragg of Devlin was the lucky winner of $10,000. Don Hammond pulled the winning ticket.
“Jean was the second person to buy tickets back in March when we launched the lottery,” noted Foundation director Teresa Hazel.
“She was very excited to win,” Hazel added. “I must say, if you can’t be the one to win, it’s just as exciting to tell someone they won!”
Five daily cash draws of $1,000 also were held leading up to July 1.
Those winners were Gloria Swanson (Fort Frances), Stacy Caul (Fort Frances), Maurice MacMillan (Emo), Judy Armstrong (Fort Frances), and Shirley Larson (Fort Frances).
The early-bird draw for a fly-in fishing trip to Campbell’s Cabins—made April 29 at the Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s trade show—was won by Orville Eyolfson.
The Foundation is very pleased with the response to this first-ever lottery event.
“Ticket sales were awesome,” enthused Hazel. “We netted over $15,000 after the prize payout and expenses.”
The funds raised will be put towards medical equipment for the hospitals in Fort Frances, Emo, and Rainy River.
