As construction cruises along for the new Boston Pizza in the west end of town, franchisees Dale Fortes and Elizabeth Leishman-Fortes are gearing up to hold their grand-opening on Monday, Nov. 2.
“Things are going real well,” Fortes said yesterday. “Construction-wise, we’re probably a little ahead of the game, which is good.”
Construction of the 5,400 sq. ft. business began in May.
Fortes said much of the exterior and interior work is complete, with custom millworking, carpeting, and electrical work making up the bulk of what still needs to done.
He also noted while his management team has been hired, the majority of the hiring will take this evening (6-9 p.m.) and tomorrow (noon-3 p.m.) at the J.W. Walker gym.
“We plan to hire 80-100 people, and I am looking forward to it,” Fortes said. “There’s still some supervisory positions available.
“We’ve got our key people in place, and now we’ll be hiring for all the other full- and part-time positions,” he explained.
Staff training will begin Oct. 19 in anticipation of the Nov. 2 opening.
Fortes said that prior to Nov. 2, some members of the public will receive invitations to dine there for lunch and supper, and try out some of the menu items.
“It’s a controlled menu and controlled timeline, but it will give the employees hands-on, live training,” he noted.
