The Kenora-Rainy River branch of the Alzheimer Society of Canada is looking for donations for its annual book sale, which will be held Jan. 19-21 at Revco Carpet here.
But those interested in giving away their gently-used books are asked to drop them off at 950 Fifth St. West prior to then.
Lynn Moffatt, executive director of the local Alzheimer Society, said donors are welcome to bring their books to Revco up until next Tuesday (Jan. 17), allowing volunteers time to get them organized for the sale.
Donors are encouraged to give books that other people might want to buy, such as novels, and are asked not to donate encyclopedias, magazines, and textbooks.
The Alzheimer book sale, which is being held in conjunction with a penny weigh-in, will take place Jan. 19-21 from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. at Revco Carpet.
As in past years, book-lovers can drop by the store, fill a bag with books, and then make a donation to the Alzheimer Society.
“The book sale has been a very popular event in the Fort Frances area,” noted Moffatt.
“It seems to be growing in size each year.”
The Alzheimer Society also is asking people to bring in their pennies over those three days, get them weighed, and donate them.
Whoever brings in the most weight in pennies wins a prize basket (pennies do not have to be rolled).
Proceeds from the event will go towards further promotion of Alzheimer awareness and education in both districts.
In related news, it will be Alzheimer Movie Day this Sunday (Jan. 15) at 1:30 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.
Stop by for cake and a movie.
