The OPP is participating in the second province-wide “Book Drive for Aboriginal Youth Literacy”—a project of Ontario Lt.-Gov. James K. Bartleman.
During the month of January, the public will be able to drop off new or gently used books for children or teenagers at any OPP detachment during regular business hours.
As the goal of this drive is to provide books for youth, the OPP will not accept books intended for adults, nor reference books/materials or magazines.
The drive concludes Jan. 31 and no books will be accepted after that date.
The collected books will be sorted and packaged and, through arrangements with the Canadian Forces, they will be delivered to aboriginal communities across Ontario.
