Last Tuesday (Aug. 24), Dryden OPP officers were advised of a vessel collision that had occurred on the back channel of Eagle Lake around 8:30 a.m. on the previous day.
In poor weather conditions, with heavy rains and strong winds, the vessel operated by a Wisconsin man collided with a second vessel, which was not under way as all occupants were engaged in fishing.
No injuries were reported, but the Wisconsin boater was charged with careless operation of a vessel under the Small Vessel Regulations.
Adhering to current boating regulations, safety awareness, and common sense are the responsible approach to safe and fun boating.
The OPP urges people to be mindful of these important practices every time they are out on the water—they are our passage to safe waterways.
Let’s end the boating season safely.
