The Rainy River District School Board approved the reinvestment of $1.3 million from reserves—for 2012-13 projects that support schools and student learning—at its regular monthly meeting Tuesday night
A K-12 math coach will be appointed to support the board’s continued focus on improved student achievement in numeracy.
To support students at risk in literacy, funds will be allocated to training a replacement for the board’s “Reading Recovery” teacher leader.
Up to four teachers—at both the elementary and secondary level—will be appointed as technology coaches to enhance their understanding, as well as to build capacity in the effective use of social media and technology that supports digital citizenship and student learning.
Funding will be continued for an Aboriginal Early Learning Liaison to develop readiness strategies for pre-schoolers, and to develop and strengthen school/family connections that improve long-term student success.
Funding also will be continued for an Aboriginal Curriculum Co-ordinator to organize and develop lesson plans that reflect local history and culture.
