The Rainy River District School Board is pleased to announce that area schools soon will be benefitting from two successful applications securing funding from the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services’ Safe Schools Grant Program.
The applications came as a result of the school board’s ongoing partnership with the OPP.
The two successful grant applications were initiated by the Rainy River District School Board and the OPP on behalf of the Fort Frances Police Services Board and the Atikokan Police Services Board, respectively.
The grant funding, totalling $100,000, will go towards several initiatives, including:
•providing training to schools and community partners in threat assessment and trauma response; and
•development of an inter-agency protocol to respond more quickly to all student behaviours that pose a potential risk to other students, staff, and members of the community and share information in a more timely manner.
In addition, funding was provided to maintain ongoing communication with communities in Rainy River District.
