Canadian Blood Services (CBS) resumes its annual Northwestern Ontario fall tour this week with two mobile blood donor clinics at Fort Frances High School.
The clinics will be held Wednesday, Sept. 26 and again Thursday, Sept. 27.
“Canadians have shown an incredible outpouring of support in response to the recent tragedy in the United States,” said Myrtle Nichols, director of CBS in Winnipeg.
“This type of tragedy emphasizes the ongoing need for blood and how we rely on the generosity of its donors.”
Nichols said CBS continues to need and will welcome donations over the next weeks and months. “We ask that donors who have made appointments in the wake of the U.S. tragedy to please honour that commitment,” she noted.
“We’re really happy to be back in Fort Frances and anxious to maintain the momentum gathered by our highly [successful summer campaign,” she added.
CBS collected 14,966 units–almost 111 percent of its 13,500-unit target.
Tomorrow’s clinic will be open from 4:30-9 p.m. On Thursday, it will run from noon to 3 p.m. and again from 5-9 p.m.
Nichols said CBS is hoping at least 425 donors will attend here over the two days, and noted there are appointment slots still open.
While appointments are convenient, “walk-in” donors will be most welcome,” she stressed.
