Blood clinic wraps up today

It’s that time again for residents of Rainy River District to roll up their sleeves and take a few minutes to help people all over Northwestern Ontario, Manitoba, and Saskatchewan.
The Canadian Blood Services’ two-day blood donor clinic wraps up today in the main gym at Fort Frances High School from noon-3 p.m. and again from 5-8:30 p.m.
Community Development co-ordinator Harvey Heather said this morning the clinic is looking for at least 260 more donors to go with the 161 who turned out yesterday.
The goal of this year’s drive is to collect at 340 units.
Heather feels confident the district will come through once again. “The last two clinics [in April and October] were great,” he enthused. “Last year was particularly good.”
Harvey was particularly impressed by the number of people who come in from out of town to donate and how it reflects well on the district as a whole.
“We’ve had people come here from Atikokan,” he remarked.
“It takes the whole community to make it successful and we’ve got that now,” he added.
