Canadian Blood Services’ donor clinic continues today at Fort Frances High School from noon-3 p.m. and 5-8 p.m.
CBS spokesperson Mike Choi said 109 donors gave 88 units of blood yesterday.
Organizers are hoping more donors come out today to help CBS reach its two-day goal of 240 units or, even better, exceed that figure.
While a number of first-time donors turned out yesterday, including high school students, a fair number couldn’t give because they were iron deficient.
Choi said CBS gave class presentations to high school students today to promote the importance of contributing to their community by donating blood.
Choi noted this evening’s portion of the clinic is well-booked, but there’s always spots for those who want to give.
Those who plan to give, but haven’t made an appointment, are urged to call 1-888-2 DONATE (1-888-236-6283) before they go to the high school.
