Who says learning can’t be fun? Certainly not the kids who turned up for a bike rodeo at Couchiching on Tuesday.
About 70 youngsters—some as young as four—turned out for the one-day skills and safety seminar conducted by the Treaty #3 Police on the outdoor hockey rink.
In addition to learning the rules of the road, and the dos and don’ts of safe cycling, they also learned some cycling skills.
The event began at 11:30 a.m. under hot, humid conditions and went until 2 p.m., when the kids were treated to a hotdog barbecue. As well, $3,500 worth of prizes were given away to the lucky participants.
The prizes were purchased through a canvassing campaign conducted throughout the district.
