Big bucks announced for Scott St. rebuild

Press Release

Greg Rickford, MPP for Kenora-Rainy River, announced Friday that Ontario is investing in the Town of Fort Frances with over $3 million dollars to support the reconstruction of Scott Street from Colonization Road East to Reid Avenue.
He also announced $116,200 for the detailed design and reconstruction of King’s Highway from Pit Road 1 to Oakwood Road.
“Scott Street is a crucial artery within the Fort Frances community, and I am proud that our government is announcing the funding for this important project,” said Rickford.
“Investing in municipal infrastructure is investing in what matters most: the roads that get us home at night and connect us to our community.”
The funding covers up to 90 percent of eligible project costs, to a maximum of $3 million.
“This is another great announcement for Fort Frances! Fort Frances is the connecting link in Northwestern Ontario, connecting personal, commercial and industrial transportation across the north. We have been waiting many years for the reconstruction of Scott Street from Reid Ave to Colonization Road East, with the west entrance to the community is in great need of repair,” said Mayor June Caul.
“I want to thank Minister Mulroney for her much needed funding for these two projects. Once again, a very sincere thank you to our MPP Greg Rickford for his constant support of Fort Frances. and advocating for infrastructure, health care in our community, and the reopening of our paper and kraft mill.”
“We are investing in municipal roads and bridges to keep families safe and to support jobs and growth in local communities,” said Transportation Minister Caroline Mulroney.
