The quest for strong hearts and healthy lifestyles is something we all want to be a part of.
This month, Community Living Fort Frances and District is doing just that.
CLFFD is assisting the Heart and Stroke Foundation in its ongoing search for healthy hearts.
This Thursday (May 19) at noon in front of Shoppers Drug Mart, CLFFD will be participating in the “Big Bike Ride”—an annual campaign to raise funds for heart research and to promote healthier lifestyles.
The bike holds 30 people so CLFFD is looking for lots of community support in this fundraiser.
Team members can be 14 years or older, and will be expected to raise a minimum of $50 each.
However, for those who raise more money, there are prizes available:
•$100–$175 earns a “Big Bike” T-shirt;
•$175–$300 earns an aluminum water bottle;
•$300–$500 earns a Nike hat;
•$500–$1,000 earns a High Sierra duffle bag;
•$1,000–$2,000 earns an exercise kit; and
•$2,000+ earns a digital camcorder
Also available is a grand prize for one community in the province: an AED (automated external defibrillator) installed in their community and CPR training for the whole team.
Community members are encouraged to become involved either through joining the team or pledging a member.
Pledges can be whatever size the donor prefers, and receipts are available as long as a return address is left with the pledge form.
Donors also have the option of pledging online at www.bigbike.ca if they choose.
