Beware of bears: OPP

The Fort Frances OPP would like to ask town residents to be alert to the presence of bears within the municipality.
There have been numerous reports of bears in garbage and wandering through streets and alleyways.
To discourage these foragers keep garbage in sealed containers within a building, be it in a garage or shed.
Clean your BBQ grills and remove any other attractants such as birdseed, compost and fruit from trees.
Report any bear sightings by calling 1-866-514-2327.
Meanwhile, the OPP Marine Unit patrolled our area waters over the weekend. A total of 17 vessels were checked with three Small Vessel Regulation warnings issued and one Liquor Licence Act warning issued.
A 57-year-old St. Peter, MN man was charged with having open liquor in a vessel, contrary to the Liquor Licence Act.
And Fort Frances OPP investigated a report of break-in to a residence in the 1000 block of Scott Street last Wednesday.
Subsequently, a 38-year-old Fort Frances man, was arrested and charged with mischief under $5,000, contrary to the Criminal Code.
He was held in custody and was to appear in court yesterday.
