Lionel Berg grew up in Dewart, and went to school at Sturgeon Creek and Fort Frances.
He has spent the past four months in hospital, including two of them in Winnipeg. Then on Nov. 27, he was admitted to La Verendrye in Fort Frances, where he still is recovering from bleeding in his head, which has affected his memory.
He travels to Winnipeg for treatments while taking physio in Fort Frances.
Lionel and his family live in Devlin. He had been working at West End Motors in Fort Frances while his wife, Patti, works at Lee Gardens there. The couple has two children, aged four and two.
Friends are planning a benefit supper to help with the finances. A spaghetti supper—complete with garlic bread, salad, and ice cream—will be served Feb. 12 from 4-7 p.m. at the Millennium Hall in Stratton.
The cost is $10 for adults and $6 for seniors and children under 10.
There also will be a penny table, silent auction, and pie auction, along with some draws and possibly some entertainment.
Those who wish to donate instead of going to the supper can do so by dropping a donation off at the Stratton post office.

It was suggested to me this week that it would be interesting to have a “beef and bouquet” column in the Times.
With that thought in mind, thanks to those responsible for looking after our roads (plowing the snow and sanding).
Unfortunately, rain has hampered their efforts, leaving slippery spots in spite of their work. On the bright side, it also has made drivers more cautious and courteous.
