George Bell, manager of Community Services for the Town of Fort Frances, will be retiring as of June 30, 2012.
In a press release issued yesterday afternoon, Fort Frances CAO Mark McCaig noted the town has accepted Bell’s notice of retirement with great appreciation for his 18 years of dedicated service to the community.
As Community Services manager, Bell’s areas of responsibility have included operations of the Memorial Sports Centre, day care, museum, library, Sunny Cove Camp, Sister Kennedy Centre, and fire department, and as administrative liaison with police services.
“During his tenure with the town, George was instrumental in many town projects, including the construction of the sports centre, Townshend Theatre, waterfront, St. Francis Sportsfields, the library, and museum renovations,” noted McCaig.
“George provided invaluable expertise to the town in securing funding and ensuring completion of these important projects,” he added.
“On behalf of mayor, council, and all town staff, we extend congratulations and best wishes to George and his family on his retirement and the next chapter of his life,” said McCaig.
