The Borderland Choral Bells will open for the Fort Frances Choraliers during its annual Christmas cantata this Sunday afternoon at St. Mary’s Church.
Diane Maxey, who directs both the bell choir and Choraliers, said yesterday that the Borderland Choral Bells is ready to perform four songs.
“This is kind of their debut. They’ve never really done it before,” she remarked. “It’s a big deal. They’re a little nervous, but it’s exciting.
“It should be fun.”
While the bell choir did perform two songs during the reading of “A Christmas Carol” in late November, Maxey noted a few key bell ringers were missing at that time and the bell choir was a bit thrown off by this.
The group of 11 bell ringers has been practising since early this year and are sponsored by St. John’s Anglican Church, which is where they usually practice each Tuesday.
The cantata will start at 3 p.m. Admission is a goodwill offering.
As previously reported, the cantata is called “For the Love of Christmas,” and will feature a mix of song and narration, the latter courtesy of Darrin Ward.
The 47-person choir has been rehearsing since October, and held their “dress rehearsal” at Rainycrest on Monday evening.
