The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce’s beautification project committee is looking for the public to give input on which ideas to pursue during an open meeting Tuesday night at the Red Dog Inn.
Chamber co-ordinator Dawn Booth said Tuesday morning that “quite a few” ideas have been faxed in by people since last month, and now’s the time for the Chamber and local residents to take a look at them.
“We’re mainly looking to categorize or prioritize the ideas we’ve received so far,” Booth noted. “What’s short-term, what’s long-term. And also, what just isn’t feasible.”
While the Chamber is looking to weed out ideas it already has, the public also is welcome to bring their opinions as to what they would like to see done to beautify the town.
Booth said the committee has made a point of inviting local service clubs, such as the Kiwanis and Lions, to attend Tuesday’s meeting, which gets underway at 7 p.m.
“We invited the service clubs to hopefully get them on board with us,” she noted. “Because we are a volunteer-based organization with more than one project on the go, we can only do so much.
“We want to get established clubs to say, ‘We can help here, and we can help there,’” Booth added.
The Town of Fort Frances had announced its support for the beautification project last week, which the committee found encouraging.
“The more people we have supporting it, the better off the project will be,” said Booth.
