Bearskin Airlines will begin offering flights between Fort Frances and Winnipeg starting Oct. 31.
The flights will depart from here at 8 p.m. each Monday through Friday, arriving in Winnipeg at 9:05 p.m.
Meanwhile, flights will be leaving Winnipeg at 7:15 a.m. on Sunday through Friday, arriving here at 8:20 a.m.
“For a long time, we haven’t had the Winnipeg service,” Mayor Dan Onichuk noted at Tuesday night’s council meeting, where the notice of the new service was on the agenda.
“It’s a very good thing for residents of the area,” he added.
A connection to Winnipeg by air previously was offered when NorOntair was flying out of here in the 1990s.
