the OPP
The Red Lake OPP dispatched an aggressive bear there Tuesday night.
Police were advised that the bear was aggressive and had charged some children in the area.
When police located the bear near the intersection of Howey Street and Crosscut Street, it could not be frightened away despite police sirens and horns, and actually charged the officers at the scene.
Police dispatched the bear for the safety of the residents in that area.
Dispatching a bear is considered a last resort but becomes necessary when aggressive behaviour threatens human safety.
