The Northwestern Health Unit declared Pither’s Point beach open for swimming yesterday, after receiving recreational water sample results indicating it is safe to do so.
The no-swimming advisory was put into place last Wednesday after tests showed high levels of E. coli in the water.
The health unit samples all public beaches in the area on a weekly basis, and is mandated to warn the public about swimming at a beach when there is a risk to their health.
When a beach has been posted, re-sampling occurs even more frequently.
