The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship still is looking for volunteers to help out this weekend.
Kathy Cuthbertson, who sits on the board of directors, said there’s a shortage of hands involved with maintenance and take-down.
“We have enough people on docks and fish care. We have enough people in the bar,” she noted.
“What we need is people that can work and do whatever needs to be done, whether it’s cleaning tables, moving tables, or emptying garbage,” she stressed.
Cuthbertson said some of the volunteers have been working since the set-up of the “Harmony of Nations” Music Festival the previous week.
“Those guys have been at it for almost two weeks now and they’re exhausted . . . we’ve burnt them out,” she remarked.
“So we need the help and we don’t have it.
“What’s going to happen is they’re just going to quit because they’ve been at it for 12-hour days for basically 12 days.”
Cuthbertson said if anyone can lend a hand, even for a few hours over the weekend, it would be appreciated.
“I would like to put out a special call to the family and friends of the fishermen because they have a vested interest in this,” she noted.
“Maybe some of those people that are going to be there anyway who are watching their husbands or partners can help out.
“We’re trying to do this and keep out of the hole so we can keep this going for another year,” Cuthbertson stressed.
Those interested in helping out can go down to the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina and speak to either Jim Cuthbertson or Wayne Allen.
Site dismantling is scheduled to begin Sunday at 9 a.m. for those who can lend a hand.
