Just under 29 percent of Fort Frances electors have voted so far in the municipal election.
Town clerk Lisa Slomke said the current number of eligible electors here has been fluctuating between 5,400 and 5,500, adding 5,486 ballots were mailed out on Oct. 2.
As of the end of day Friday, the returning office had received 1,566 ballots—both via Canada Post and personal drop-off at the Civic Centre.
Slomke said they don’t track the number received via mail and in person separately because they are dropped in the same ballot box for that date.
A total of 3,515 ballots were cast in the 2006 municipal election here which, given the total of 6,303 eligible voters, translated into a 55.77 percent turnout.
There was no election in 2010 as the candidates for mayor and council all were acclaimed.
