Ballet, comedy in store for ‘tour de Fort’

Even before the curtain set on the final “tour de Fort” concert of the season last week, organizers already were thinking about next year’s passport series.
“There’s going to be a really, really good variety. There’s comedy, music, ballet—something for everyone,” enthused tour de Fort president Wendy Brunetta.
Brunetta said she can’t say for sure exactly what acts will be performing here since the ink hasn’t yet dried on all the contracts, but that it will be just as good—if not better—than this past season.
Current owners already were lining up last Thursday night before the “Rhapsody Junction” concert to purchase their passports for next season. The passport series, which will include six shows, costs $80 each.
The Encore series, which will include three shows, costs $50.
“There’s nothing else like it in Fort Frances. How else can you get world-class performers in such a small community,” said Twila Hammond, who’s been a passport-holder for the last two years.
Hammond said she couldn’t pick her favourite concert of the season, instead she’s just glad to have had the opportunity to attend all the performances.
While current passport-holders got first dibs at next season’s tickets, any remaining passports—as well as Encore series tickets—will go on sale tomorrow (Thursday) from 5-7 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library on a first-come, first-served basis.
Those hoping to snag a passport or two should come early since they’re likely to sell-out fast.
Brunetta said the reason ticket sales have never been a problem is that each season builds on the success of last.
“I think the programmer did a really, really good job. The reactions have been positive. People really enjoyed the shows,” she said.
If not everyone has the same tastes as the programmer, Brunetta said anyone not happy with next season’s line-up can receive a full refund once the performers are confirmed.
