Under the new name “Mamma needs a new (or gently used) Bag Lunch,” the Riverside Foundation for Health Care’s annual event will take place Saturday, April 16 from noon-2 p.m. at the Fort Frances High School cafeteria.
But the event, previously known as the “Old Bags Lunch,” already is sold out.
“We sold out pretty early,” noted Foundation director Nicke Baird, adding it’s great to have so much interest and support for the lunch.
However, she said they still are looking for bag donations.
“We’re having a local business bag table, so I’ve been contacting businesses in the area that sell bags,” Baird explained.
“It’s a great way for local businesses to maybe get rid of some of their winter stock and showcase that they have bags,” she reasoned.
Baird said they’re also looking to feature bags by local artists, evening purses, every-day purses, and foreign bags.
“For example, if someone has any purses they bought in Thailand or purses that look foreign, those are some of the types of donations we are looking for,” she noted.
In addition, donations for the door prize also are needed.
“Like if a local business wants to give a gift certificate for $10 or something like that, it would be appreciated,” Baird remarked.
This year’s lunch will feature a new menu of salads and bread sticks, as well as a goodie bag for each attendee and plenty of games, such as “Bag or No Bag” and “What’s in your Bag?”
Local photographer Laura Chabot also will be on hand to capture all of the action.
“It’s always been a great event and I hope it continues on to be a fun event,” Baird enthused.
Bag donations, which can be new or gently used, can be dropped off in the garage of 911 Frenette Ave., 525 Scott St., or at the Foundation office.
Or you can call Baird or Joan Allison for a pick-up at 274-4803 or 276-0029, respectively.
