For the Northwestern Health Unit (NWHU) and their staff, it’s time again to make room in the trophy case.
Health educator Hailey Coleman who works out of the Rainy River office has just been awarded the Rainy River District School Board’s (RRDSB) Community Partner of the Year.
Coleman’s award comes just weeks after the NWHU was recognized with the Employee Recommended Workplace Award (ERWA); the only award based entirely on feedback from employees.
The Ontario Public Health Association has also awarded NWHU manager of Communications and Foundations Alex Berry with its Award of Excellence.
The award was given in recognition of his outstanding leadership, contributions to public health, innovation and capacity building, especially related to continuous quality improvement (CQI).
Yet another member of the NWHU management team was recognized nationally as program manager Shannon Robinson received the Health Promotion Canada 2018 Recognition Award, awarded by the National Collaborating Centre for the Determinants of Health
Robinson was recognized in her former role as Manager of Chronic Disease Prevention where under her leadership the health unit was granted funding for important public health initiatives, including Food Security Forums to engage 39 First Nation communities across the region.
She also helped develop Memorandums of Understanding with school boards in the area.
