Awards Banquet

The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce held its sixth-annual banquet and business awards Saturday night at the Red Dog Inn here and it was a humbling experience for most of the recipients.
“I was very surprised and humbled by the whole thing,” said Tana Langtry, who was named Employee of the Year (private dector).
“I have been manager of The Place for 15 years and this was the first time I had been nominated,” she noted. “I had no idea that I was up for the award until I received a letter in the mail.
“I mentioned it to the owner, Craig Sanders, and it was only then that he confessed and told me he had done it.”
Unprepared for the win, Langtry admitted she was very surprised when her name was announced.
“I didn’t make too much of a speech because I was in shock,” she remarked. “I thanked everyone but that was all I could do. I was teary-eyed when I won.
“It means a great deal to have someone nominate you for something like this.”
Jan Hall-Bosma, owner of In-Focus Photography here, was equally surprised when she was named Entrepreneur of the Year.
“I think I am finally coming down from the whole this,” she said yesterday. “Only now am I remembering what I said in my speech.
“I was very emotional because I
really did not think I was going to win.”
