The La Verendrye Hospital Auxiliary executive met on April 2 in the third floor meeting room.
Dixie Badiuk and Helene Cone are gearing up for “Rockin’ for a Reason” which will take place on May 24 and 25 during the “Spring Market” at the curling rink. Pledge sheets will be mailed to auxiliary members in the near future.
Let’s make this year even better than last in collecting pledges. Remember all proceeds go to provide much needed equipment for the hospital.
Assistance on CCU will continue until Easter and will be reviewed at that time. Thank you to all members who have come and helped with this worthy endeavor.
Shirley Schofield will convene the “Strawberry Social” this year with the assistance of Linda Booth and Jim and Erin Curtis.
Please volunteer to help out for this much-anticipated annual event. The “Strawberry Social” will be held on Thursday, June 13 on the hospital grounds.
Judy Webster advises that the quilt raffle tickets are going well. Members are asked to return all tickets by June 1.
If more tickets are needed, contact Judy at 274-3109. The raffle will take place at the “Strawberry Social.”
A huge thank you to Betty’s of Fort Frances for setting up the very first pop-up shop in the hospital gift shop.
The auxiliary is working to provide new and varied items for the staff and public. The next pop-up shop will be Pharmasave.
Please come and check out all the new items. There are also beautiful baby quilts and reversible blankets made by members which would make wonderful baby gifts.
Membership reports there are now 234 paid members and 19 Rainycrest members. Marnie Cumming and Irene Laing met with Riverside to prepare the list of those receiving awards at this year’s Quarter Century Club event put on by Riverside Health Care.
New guidelines have been established and will be presented at the annual general meeting for approval.
It is with regret that the auxiliary accepts the resignation of long-time member June Keddie as Riverside Foundation representative.
June has given many years of dedicated service to this auxiliary. Thank you so much June, you will definitely be missed. We will enjoy visiting with you at our events and luncheons.
Foundation director Allison Cox reports that the “Mama’s Gone Country Chic” luncheon will take place on April 27 at 11:30 a.m. Please note that the venue has been changed to the Emo Arena.
Donations of baking and canning will be gladly accepted. Please contact Allison at the Foundation office. Also, Canada Day Lottery tickets will be ready for sale in the near future.
Patient Services would like to thank the fire department for the donation of smoke alarms for the baby baskets. The baby baskets will be getting a mini-overhaul in the next few months.
Janet Lambert reports that the newsletter will be out in early May. If members have items they wish to publish in the newsletter, please contact Janet at 274-2713.
Lastly, the nominating committee is still in need of a vice-president and advertising/promotion director.
