The La Verendrye and Rainycrest auxiliaries have the honour this year of hosting the Northwest Region spring conference for the Hospital Auxiliary Association on Ontario (HAAO).
It will be held Saturday, April 13 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at Hallett Hall at Rainycrest.
Members of both local auxiliaries are invited to attend. To register, call June Caul (274-2209) or Irene Laing (274-9560).
Registration fees will be covered by the auxiliaries but members will be responsible for the $15 meal/coffee fee.
The Northwest is one of 13 regions in Ontario, and encompasses Fort Frances, Emo, Rainy River, Dryden, Kenora, and Red Lake/Ear Falls.
There are more than 30,000 auxiliary members in Ontario, who volunteer in hospitals, long-term care home, and clinics throughout the province.
The fall conference generally is an executive meeting while the spring one is open to all members.
This provides an opportunity for members from throughout the area to meet and exchange ideas.
As well as business, there is an educational component to the conference.
The morning speaker (a pharmacist) will handle the topic of prescription drugs, and will be available for questions following his presentation.
And to make it a fun affair, there will be entertainment after lunch.
The registration deadline is this Wednesday (April 10).
