Artists urged to enter show

The Fine Line Art Gallery here wants artists working in any medium to know they’re welcome to register for its annual spring art show coming up in late April.
And this time around, they’d best put on their wizard’s caps and polish their magic wands.
Vi Plumridge, a member of the Fine Line co-op, said yesterday the theme for this year’s show is “Abracadabra.”
Plumridge noted that, as in previous years, the theme is widely open to interpretation.
“It could be a magician casting a spell, it could be anything,” she remarked.
Last year’s theme was “Seeing Red,” following in the footsteps of the colour-themed “Shades of Yellow” in 2002 and “Out of the Blues” in 2004.
This has alternated with non-coloured themes such as “Cup and Dish” in 2005 and “Wild ’n Woolly” in 2003.
While organizers still are deciding on an exact date for a “Music in the Gallery” open house to wrap up the exhibit, it likely will be held in late April.
As such, the deadline for artists to submit their work—which may be in any medium (watercolour, oil, stained glass, sculpture, etc.)—will be early April so gallery staff have time to set up the exhibition.
On average, the spring art show draws 40 entries each year.
The cost to enter is $10 (artists are limited to one work each). If the artist so desires, their piece will be for sale.
Artists wanting to enter their work in the show should pick up an entry form at the Fine Line Art Gallery (529 Mowat Ave.)
