Residents are invited to pay a visit to the Fort Frances Museum tonight at 6 p.m. to hear local artist Connie Cuthbertson speak about her experiences in art and with inspiration.
While future speakers still are being lined up, Cuthbertson’s talk is the first of many the museum hopes to host as part of an ongoing speaker series on a variety of topics.
“I’m going to actually talk about the inspiration of art and the processes that I’ve gone through, and kind of my growth as an artist and where I’m hoping to head and what direction I’m going to go with it,” Cuthbertson explained, though stressing it’s an informal get-together and topics aren’t set in stone.
“It’s going to be more of an impromptu sort of question-answer, open-floor type of thing, and then if people want to ask questions about different pieces,” she noted.
A collection of Cuthbertson’s latest artwork, entitled “‘The Awakening’—Memories of Greece,” is on display at the museum until tomorrow (Feb. 14).
So for those who haven’t seen it yet, tonight is a chance to meet Cuthbertson and ask questions.
As well, people interested in getting into art themselves are encouraged to come out—and even those interested in travelling to Greece.
“It’s not strictly just about artwork, it’s about the process of creativity at all different levels,” Cuthbertson said, adding that after her initial talk, the “floor is open” to discussion.
“It’s just a good way to talk about painting and travel, and what it is that inspires each of us in different ways,” she enthused.
Refreshments also will be served.
