Rainy River held its first-annual “Art in the Park” festival on Sunday, which was organized by the “People for Hannam Park” committee.
The day’s main attraction was talent from all over the district being showcased for the attendees to enjoy.
“The goal of the event was to celebrate talent in our community, to utilize and enjoy our beautiful park, to bring people together, and to inform the community of our goals to purchase accessible equipment for our playground,” said event organizer Lisa Barrett.
Admission was a free-will offering, with Barrett saying the funds raised “will go to improve and update our park.”
“To add equipment that is suitable for children, adults, seniors, and people with disabilities,” she added.
The event also featured food for purchase, as well as a vendor sale for local home businesses to showcase their products.
“I would like to thank the committee for supporting the idea and working hard to make it happen,” said Barrett.
“The entertainers for their wonderful talent, the artisan vendors for coming out, [and] Kors Pater for supplying the sound equipment and for ensuring everything ran smoothly.
“For those in the community who came out to support this event and their generous donations, [and] the Best Start Hub for their part in providing an opportunity for children in the community to express themselves through art,” she added.
The event was a great way for everyone in Rainy River to gather together and support the beautiful waterfront park they all love so dearly.
