Applications submitted for share of Moffat Fund

A total of 23 organizations and individuals, looking to get a share of funds the town has been allotted by the Moffat Family Fund, filed their applications at the Civic Centre by last Friday’s deadline.
Town administrative assistant Lori Pattison said earlier this week that the local committee will meet in the next week or so to review the submissions and decide which applicants are allocated how much.
The selection committee is comprised of Mayor Roy Avis, Coun. Andrew Hallikas, Fort Frances CAO Mark McCaig, Linda Hamilton, Salvation Army Capt. Angel Sandoval, and Marie Howells.
The selection committee’s recommendations then will be sent in to the Winnipeg Foundation prior to the March 31 deadline.
Recipients likely receive cheques for their share of the $50,000 sometime by the end of April.
As previously reported, the town once again was allotted $50,000 to give to Fort Frances-based groups which benefit children, families, and the less advantaged.
This is the fifth year it has received funding to do so.
