Annual dog walk planned

Press Release

It’s time to walk the dog!
The annual Purina Walk for Dog Guides is set for Sunday, May 27 at 1 p.m. at Pither’s Point Park in Fort Frances.
The local Voyageur Lions Club once again will be organizing this event to raise money for the Lions Foundation of Canada Dog Guides training school in Oakville, Ont.
This school is the only one in North America which trains dogs for assistance to assist with vision, hearing, special skills, seizure response, and autism—even offering bilingual training for dog guide teams—at no cost to the clients.
All costs are covered by Lions clubs across Canada and the annual Purina Dog Walk.
This year’s walk gets underway at 1 p.m., with registration starting at noon. Refreshments and prizes will be offered to all participants.
Our special guest walker this year will be local resident Wayne Lundstrom and his dog guide, “Oasis,” who just graduated from the Oakville training centre on May 10.
It is not necessary to have a dog to take part in the walk. Anyone can join in.
Pick up a pledge forms and information at Pharmasave, Lidkea Optometry Centre, Nirvana, Northwoods Gallery & Gifts, Howarth’s, Safeway, Nor-West Animal Clinic, and Fort Frances Public Library Technology Centre.
Come on out and take a walk in the park on Sunday, May 27!
